Are NGOs good for Cambodia? An NGOs is Non-Government Organization. The NGOs help people like get people clean water, help people to saved money, help women… There all around 3500 NGOs in Cambodia. I think NGOs is good for Cambodia because they help many people and safe people life. The NGOs is bad for Cambodia because some of the NGOs don’t really help people they only wanted money and the lies to the Government. I think the NGOs could be bad for Cambodia but if there no NGOs the country would be worse. Our Visit to the Tabitha Foundation N.G.O Introduction Recently we visited the Tabitha Foundation N.G.O here in Phnom Penh. This was part of our unit of inquiry, How We Organize Ourselves. We wanted to visit an established N.G.O to help us understand more about why and how they do the work they do. Tabitha is a long established N.G.O which has been doing great work in Cambodia for over a quarter of a century. It was an excellent visit to an organisation worthy of support.   S.C.C Student Reflection  We learned that Tabitha teaches people to save money for themselves so that they learn how help themselves. They do this by saving 25 cents per week. Once they have saved enough they can buy some chickens which they can get eggs from and also breed, this gives them a source of food and money, because they can sell the chicks. What is the the Student Cooperation Committee? S.C.C The Student Cooperation Committee (S.C.C) was founded by grade 5 students of Asia-Pacific Fredfort International School in Phnom Penh Cambodia. It was established in 2018 with the intention of helping less fortunate students. The idea behind the S.C.C came when we were studying the impact of N.G.O’s in Cambodia. We identified that some young children in Cambodia don’t have access to the resources needed to provide them with a good education and we want to do our part to address that need, which is why we created the S.C.C. The S.C.C is an informal N.G.O which will offer support to a local community school in need. We will support them by sharing our own knowledge and understanding. We will also look at ways we can donate resources and fund raise on an ongoing basis.
